About Us

WHO WE ARE

About Us

Founded in 2008, but becoming active in 2013, Proudtobeme is a social enterprise that exists to empower, educate and help young people between the ages of 13 – 25 from less privileged backgrounds by providing them with opportunities they may not have otherwise received. Proudtobeme aims to make a positive difference to the lives of these young people and nurture them into adulthood by creating opportunities for them to increase their self-esteem levels and general well-being through coaching, mentoring and training; thereby empowering them to make better decisions and develop into confident and informed young people.

Proudtobeme exists to support and encourage young people to embrace themselves, their work, skills, abilities, leadership, decision making and influencing skills, both now and in the future.

We aim to support the increasing number of young people who are affected by the debilitating effects of low self-esteem /aspirations and the overall effects of low economic and social disadvantage, and structural racism which can impact upon the lives of young people.

So far, in 2019/20 we have supported more than 300 girls and young women. We aim to tackle low self-esteem, low well-being and lack of confidence so that young people can get more out of life

About Lola

I’m Lola Owolabi and
I’m Proud To Be Me.

We can help you be Proud To Be You!”

I created proudtobeme (PTBM) on the founding belief that everyone is born with their own gift or talent. I am passionate about the potential of women and girls, especially their destiny and purpose. Low self-esteem and lack of confidence can be a big barrier to people reaching their full potential. Lola Owolabi has extensive and varied experience working within the community. Her portfolio ( she wears a lot of hats!) spans many disciplines including social enterprise; mentoring and coaching; event planning; women’s charities (board member, executive and trusteeship); financial advice; fashion and lifestyle retail; school governorship, and magistrate duties (Bench Chairman).
